What it is

Two ways to make a truck recover

A fifth-wheel wrecker mounts on the fifth-wheel (kingpin) plate of a tractor unit — couple it up like a trailer and the tractor becomes a tow truck in minutes, lifting and towing from 4 to 25 ton with an underlift arm — battery-powered on the 4 and 8 ton models, PTO-driven on the 16 and 25 ton. A DTU (Detachable Tow Unit) is a full boom-and-underlift recovery module on its own subframe that bolts onto — and demounts from — your chassis, giving integrated-wrecker capability from 10 to 40 ton and leaving the truck free for other work when it's off. Both use HG70 booms and underlifts with DOT hydraulics, engineered to your chassis.

Fifth-wheel wreckers lift and tow via an underlift arm and mount on a standard fifth-wheel plate — the 4 T is a pickup fifth-wheel system, 8–25 T are heavy-duty. DTUs carry an HG70 2-stage boom and 3-stage underlift with planetary DOT winches, same as our integrated wreckers but on a demountable subframe. Extended ratings, dimensions and wire specs on request — tell us your tractor / chassis and recovery weight and we'll spec the right unit.
